[GTALUG] question -- booting from USB on Chromebook ?

I get screen with message

    OS verification is OFF
    Press SPACE to re-enable.

>From online articles, I'm supposed to press Ctrl-U or Ctrl-L here, but
it just beeps.  For this HP Chromebook, it doesn't hang.  I eventually
get Chrome login screen.
