The same thought also occurred to me. My Iceweasel has flashplayer
11.2.202.401; whereas the chrome version I downloaded has 18.0.0.209.
Adobe is no longer providing upgrades to flashplayer for linux --
only security fixes to version 11.2.202.

What we need now is an open source equivalent of the latest
flashplayer along with something like the default user agent, which
fools websites into believing the user has MSIE, to fool sites into
believing that the user has the latest version of Adobe flashplayer.
In the absence of an open source equivalent to flashplayer the
usefulness of Iceweasel, and probably Firefox as well, is compromised.

I had the same problem during the Winter Olympics in Vancouver and
Whistler. I never did get Silverlight to work effectively, as much I
think caused by a slow internet connection as anything else. At the
time I was in Thailand.
