TrueCrypt Alternatives

With TrueCrypt not going to be developed anymore[1], does anyone know
of any good alternatives for sharing a container of files. TrueCrypt
does list builtin alternatives for Windows and Mac OS X, but they
don't seem to be taking Linux very seriously:

"Use any integrated support for encryption. Search available
installation packages for words encryption and crypt, install any of
the packages found and follow its documentation."
