I was mistaken. I'm actually subscribed to a Google calendar in iCal
format called GTALUG:

http://www.google.com/calendar/ical/1e7buohjlj4e6hfpa4ragrqo6k-4bHDNLGkYkFWVKst7DdmghPsWskHk0ljAL8bYrjMMd8@public.gmane.org/private-aa6d691c8fc68037e726a07cc4460df2/basic

(so who manages this Google calendar?)

However, I just subscribed to http://gtalug.org/gtalug.ics with
Thunderbird and Lightning, and it works great too.
