Recommend a Linux release for very, very non-specialist

I will agree with everyone else.  Mint is very nice.  It isn't what _I_
would run on my machine, but it is a very nice distribution for those
that don't want to have to mess with everything to get it working.

I think LMDE is the right one to choose.  The reinstall every release
that the Ubuntu based one uses seems way too stupid to me.
