duh -- mii-diag knows nothing about gigabyte ethernet

I've been trying to figure out if my gig switch will actually negotiate 
gig speeds.  I was puzzled why it didn't seem to.

It turns out that mii-tool (and its relatives) haven't been updated to 
handle gigabyte speeds, or warn the user of this problem.

Use ethtool instead.

Except for some old, poorly supported cards: ethtool won't work and mii-* 
will.
