This thread has nothing to do with the vast majority of the users on
the internet. It has to do with a geographically specific technical
community who use a variety of specialized mail tools that in their
own ways attempt to adhere to RFC specifications. Moreover, said
community has a set of established practices and norms built up around
them.

Etiquette is having at least a modicum of understanding and adherence
to those norms, and of your audience, however arbitrary they might seem.
