Nothing: I didn't know about it either!

I think that it's a GNU extension -- it's not part of POSIX.2.

I hate it that there are so many flags on so many commands.

parallel can do more, but I didn't exploit that.  For example, it can
farm tasks off to other machines, communicating by SSH.
