The S2X (T989) does have a home key. It's just not used for boot mode
selection.
The recovery mode hardware shortcut is actually vol + AND - with power
(http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1858435). I forgot
by now.
Vol - is for download mode (Odin).
