Using Git in a Windows environment?

I was talking to a couple of Windows git users recently, one of whom
recommended msysgit and/or Smartgit (commercial), while the other was a
temporarily-displaced Unix user who recommended installing Cygwin and
using traditional commandline git thereunder.  Your mileage may vary.
