That might have been the original version of the TX650 (made by Channel 
Well from what I've read). What I'm considering is the TX650 V2 model.

The more I try dig for detailed technical review of power supplies the 
more often I can find at least a couple of people saying they have had 
problems with a particular supply. Seems as if there are no supplies 
that haven't given trouble to someone and the Internet just makes it 
easier to hear of those issues. I try to discount or ignore messages 
about problems that are from several years ago.
