Hmmm, I'm not sure they did anything wrong at this point, I just think it's an unreasonable stance on their part. They can have everything he owes them right now, or nothing. Seems to be a no brainer to me, but what do I know.

On a related note, I heard that someone in a similar situation went into CIBC, they owed 10k on a visa, offered the bank 2500 and the bank took it.
They also are on the verge of bankruptcy. However they will have an R9 credit rating which is treated exactly the same as a bankruptcy
so I question why bother paying them anything, just declare bankruptcy
