How do I *PERMANENTLY* remove extra toolbars in gnumeric?

  No such animal.  Google searching ran into "gsettings".  I tried
issuing the command...

gsettings sltdnes][~] et org.gnome.gnumeric.core.gui.toolbars longformat-visible false

...but it comes back with...

GLib-GIO-Message: Using the 'memory' GSettings backend.  Your settings will not be saved or shared with other applications.

...which renders the settings pointless.  Now what?
