overheating

This is a somewhat old compact Dell machine that I use as my home
workstation. It serves me well for a long time. Except of one problem.

It recently turns off due to overheating.

This is not processor overheating. I suspect that it is due to power
supply overheating. I measure now temperature of chasse of the power
supply. When the out metal is of around 41 degrees C, the computer turns
off. Now I can use the computer by placing a metal pot with a cold water
with ice on the power supply. Still, until the ice melts and temperature
reaches 41.

Where could I change that critical temperature? Is that in software or
on harware? Psensors do not help me.
