I have been very happy with the Dell high end monitors (I have a 2407 and
2408 at home, and a 2408 at work, and my parents have a 2410 and 3008).

They often have sales which is obviously the best time to pick one up.

They currently have the U2711 on sale for $799 (2560x1440) and the U3011
on sale for $1099 (2560x1600). You really can't beat a nice IPS panel
for viewing angle and colour quality.
