The problem is DRM books.  I'm not aware of any DRM software, such as 
Adobe Digital Editions, that runs on Linux.  You should be able to run 
Windows in a VM, if you're so inclined.  DRM free books from O'Reilly 
and elsewhere are no problem for a Linux box.
