Rogers, Android, tethering...

If you are using it to provide service to a laptop, there's no reason you
can't plug it in to the laptop to keep the charge topped up.

I do this on the train where VIAs wifi gets sketchy (or I want to access a
blocked service).

The wifi hotspot capabilities are secure too (WPA2/PSK).
