Generally I don't see much of a problem with these kinds of questions on 
list. There useful reference material should I need to go hunting later.

Some folks will mark threads as "Off Topic" [OT], but for the most part 
the options for a conversation aren't restrained. If people don't want 
to read a particular thread, there more then welcome to mark it as such 
or update their kill file.
