Network Interfaces - description and groups tags

Good Morning,

Does linux have the ability to provide a 'description' and 'groups' set of
labels to it's network interfaces?

The reason I ask is that I have them on our BSD machines:


bge0: flags=8843<UP,BROADCAST,RUNNING,SIMPLEX,MULTICAST> mtu 1500
        lladdr blah
        description: External
        groups: egress
        media: Ethernet autoselect (1000baseT full-duplex)
        status: active
        inet blah.blah.blah.blah netmask 0xffffffe0 broadcast blahblah

bge1: flags=8943<UP,BROADCAST,RUNNING,PROMISC,SIMPLEX,MULTICAST> mtu 1500

        inet 10.0.0.1 netmask 0xffffff00 broadcast 10.0.0.255
        inet6 blah bge1 prefixlen 64 scopeid 0x2
