Two computers with remote access

I now have a new desktop Ubuntu machine, and I am keeping the old
machine running as a server.

Currently I use SSH and NXClient for remote desktop on the old machine.

I want the same access for the new machine.

Is it as simple as opening a new public port, configuring the router to
direct that to the new machine, and configuring the NXClient to use
either port? I use key encryption for the SSH.

Any problems to be aware of? The client is a Windows 7 laptop.

Any better way to this?

Thanks
Stephen
