CentOS / RHEL does a check once a week.

This gets rather annoying if your running multi-terabyte arrays on less 
recent hardware, because the check can last the better part of the day. 
If you don't know it's doing it you can wake up each Monday morning and 
think your RAID has broken AGAIN.
