profiling a binary

Greeting again,

Upon the subject of the time command, my goal is to profile some
Cfengine policy.  I run cf-agent against some policy to see how it
performs in terms of time and resource use.  Make changes and run again
to look for improvements.  GNU time seems to be the best way at the
moment.  Is there another way?
