The two bridges were to have been a part of the radial roads project, in 
which roads and subways/streetcars would travel downtown diagonally. 
The Parliament/Castle Frank bridge was to feed a line going southwest, 
not west, and could not  be used for a  westbound subway continuation 
along Bloor.
