anyone can suggest a good cheap router

I have the WL-520GU running OpenWRT. If you want to experiment with
alternative firmwares one of the nice things about this router is they
are practically "unbrickable". If you completely trash a firmware
install and render the router unusable... I have always been able to
back up and try again and get it working again.

Not so with the WRT54GL.
