I ordered an IDE-to-SATA adaptor from them last week and it was fine. Of
course, that's not exactly something that would be easy to screw up. Now
I can plug my Blu-ray writer into my old motherboard (hurray).
I know of people who use TigerDirect but I don't recall hearing of
advertsing code problems.
It would seem to be that refusing shipment over an advertising code is a
pretty extreme response, unless you're talking hundreds of dollars. Have
you considered other, less antagonistic alternatives?
It's been a while since I've been down to College and Spadina. There's a
bunch of discount computer stores that way that deal mainly with
university students. You can get cheap prices on hard drives. It's also
a good place if you're looking for rare items, like memory upgrades for
old laptops, again probably due to the student clientel.
Generally speaking, when buying high priced items, I like to deal with
humans where I can see the merchandise and can ask questions like "when do
I get my discount?"
