Distros for old old laptop

Does anyone know of Ubuntu-related distro which doesn't do "live CD"?  I
just want to install to harddisk, and run it from there.  I tried Ubuntu
and SimplyMEPIS, and both boot up as "live CD", and then you click
"install" icon.
