Apart from the $100 price, what target did it miss? It is rugged, low 
power, has a screen that's usable in full sunlight, a mesh wireless 
network, ...

The $100 price has not been achieved, likely because they haven't been 
able to reach the volumes that would have allowed that price point. One 
of the reasons they could not get bigger volumes is that industry giants 
woke up to the threat, and created enough FUD, along with price 
discounts, grants, etc. that disrupted the OLPC sales.
