That article forgets about the distribution of electricity.  In many 
areas, the distribution network is already under considerable strain, so 
the more load that can be diverted, the better, no matter what the 
original source of the power.  IIRC, that big blackout a few years ago, 
was started on an overloaded system that couldn't withstand the hit of 
the initial problem.
