Setting static DNS

For most networks, I've no control over. Things like hotspots, networks 
in hotels and airports and so on. I remember there was a way in older 
versions of Ubuntu to set the DNS separately from the rest of the 
network values, but it seems to have been removed or moved in recent 
versions.

Maybe I have to write a small script to watch DBus and edit resolv.conf 
when it changes myself...
