I just reinstalled Debian on my desktop, and everything works, but the
sounds is really quiet. I am not sure how to fix this.

Things I've tried:

looked at 'alsamixer'
both Master and PCM are at 100%

both headphone and audio output are very quiet

No other programs seem to have much effect on increasing the volume.
Any thoughts?
