I realize that copy-and-paste is easy, but it is actually not OK
to reproduce the text of an article in its entirety and redistribute it
- even with attribution, under standard copyright.

If the NYT still required login to view the articles, and you wished to
protest that restriction you would at least have some reason to
illegally redistribute their articles, but even that reason is invalid.

Republishing, with attribution, an excerpt with your commentary would be
both legal and much more welcome.
