thanks rob, i hadn't thought of it that way.  hmm, i wonder if it'd be
worthwhile to run the os off of some kind of flash memory.  haven't even
checked lately, is it now possible to run linux off of onboard flash?
do lots of MB's have onboard flash now?  need to check that out...
