There are a few cases where a hub would make things work while a switch
wouldn't (which is really a mistake in the setup, not the fault of the
switch), simply because the hub broadcasts everything, and the switch
only sends traffic where it should go.  This can make a difference to
VRRP for example if you set it up wrong.
