ubuntu custom motd

Ubuntu /etc/motd is always overwritten upon reboot.I had to fix this.
I am sure there is easier ways to do this. as root cd /etc

unlink /etc/motd
nano /etc/motd-custom <--your permanent MOTD and save
ln -s /etc/motd-custom /etc/motd
