Hmm. There's probably just a lag-time between the "nvidia" driver
being updated on Debian's end and the kernel update itself.  You could
just make the use of the from-the-website driver an interum thing
until Deb gets an updated "nvidia-glx" package out there.

Also, how old is your card? Maybe you need one of the
"nvidia-glx-legacy-XXXX" packages?
