Even a single directional antenna only at the house end may be good
enough. It will increase the strength of the signal that gets to the
beach and improve the reception of signals coming from the beach.

Trying a home built or inexpensive commercial directional antenna, at
the house end only, may be worth a shot. If the one you try
noticeably increases the distance but doesn't quite get you there, at
least it indicates that a better one might do the trick.
