wifi 450-500 feet, almost line of sight, anyone done this?

from hardly any, to a surprising lot, depends how wet they are.

then a "cantenna" on a lightweight tripod for the beach, and a disused 
TV dish at the house ? For the cantenna, the USB stick style is ideal, 
as running longer antenna always loses signal, but running a reasonable 
USB extension is OK.
