Cats and MythTV...

If you can handle your cat jumping off the box in horror, you could try 
this:

It's essentially a can of air + motion sensor.

The cat will nap there because it's warm.  Besides fastening something 
on top of it so that it's not a flat surface, there's not much that you 
can do, except adding filters on the intake fans.  You could also try 
turning it on edge (like a tower), if it's not already, so there is less 
surface area for the cat to nap on.
