Using LAST:
bash-2.05$ rrdtool fetch
/export/home/watson.neil/data/vmstat_all_kthr.rrd LAST \
     -r 300 -s '13:40 21.8.08' -e '14:40 21.8.08' |head
ERROR: the RRD does not contain an RRA matching the chosen CF
