best place to install system on asus eee?

Hi All,

I just wondering what you think the place to install ubuntu on the asus 
eee?

So far I've tried the hard-drive (problem is that it fills up) and the SD 
card (problem is that it seems much slower.)  Other options would be a 
memory stick or external hard drive.  Before I keep going with trial
and error I thought I'd ask if there were any suggestions?
