I installed openssh-client to enable some rsync data backup between
computers. I did get a message that after the upgrade I should run the
following command:
ssh-keygen -l -f HOST_KEY_FILE
Being a good boy, I followed directions:
pauline at ppc:~$ ssh-keygen -l -f HOST_KEY_FILE
HOST_KEY_FILE: No such file or directory
pauline at ppc:~$ locate HOST_KEY_FILE
locate: fatal error: search_db: open: '/var/lib/slocate/slocate.db':
Permission denied
pauline at ppc:~$ sudo locate HOST_KEY_FILE
sudo: must be setuid root
pauline at ppc:~$ su
Password:
su: Authentication failure
Sorry.
pauline at ppc:~$ su
Password:
root at ppc:/home/pauline# locate HOST_KEY_FILE
root at ppc:/home/pauline# locate HOST_KEY_FILE*
root at ppc:/home/pauline# locate *HOST_KEY_FILE*
root at ppc:/home/pauline#
I don't really want t get involved in stuff I don't understand. After
all rsync is working fine now. Is this something I should really be doing?
Chris
