GPRS or wireless provider recommendation

I have refined it further. It seems that Telus has a hotspot where I need it.
Any horror stories wrt. Telus pay as you go? Does anyone have experience with a
Telus card bought to support the $25/mo unlimited access option? Is it possible
to 'roam' on a Telus hotspot if one has a wifi plan from one of the other
members of the Canadian hotspot alliance (http://www.canadianhotspot.ca/) ? Does
any of this require special windows-only software? (I know already that Telus
hotspot access at least uses normal authentication and no proprietary software)?
Again good/bad/ugly/horror (esp. billing related) stories are welcome.
