according to their site, the linux based openmoko phone is now shipping.
http://us.direct.openmoko.com/products/neo-freerunner

This phone at first glance is quite intriguing,
    * Hardware Highlights
          o Wi-Fi (802.1 1b/g)
          o AGPS
          o GPRS (2.5G not EDGE)
          o Bluetooth 2.0
          o 3axis Motion Sensors (2)

    * Software Highlights
          o Openmoko GNU/Linux-based
          o 100% FOSS on CPU
          o GNU/Linux development tools

Rogers/fido do GSM, but can one just walk into a rogers shop with one of
these and pucrchase a plan for it?
