I hate that freemind requires Java, but that said, I have to agree
with David: it's bloody excellent.  Oh, wait - he didn't quite say
that it was "good," precisely.  But I will.

I write my papers in vim, and if it's a small thing I'll do the
outlining there too.  But anything above a certain size freemind is
the way to go.
