I worked with VMS for about a dozen years and still miss some of its  
features.  It was easy to tune, the structure of file mapping on disk  
was sane and easy to use, the "system service" APIs were well defined  
and documented, distributed lock management, network-aware file  
specifications....

Bah, I sound old.  :-)
