If you visit your local Samba installation at
http://localhost:901/
and go to the Status page, you should see three services listed, smbd,
nmbd and winbindd. smbd provies file and printer sharing to computers
on my LAN, nmbd is the NetBIOS name server. I have both running, and
printing to the printer on my Linux box from PCs (Win98 and WinXP) and
Macs just works.
