Looks like XP is not an option for me. I got a 'Manifest Parse Error'
trying to install it. I looked through my spy overcoat for the vial of
Manifest Parse Error antidote and it wasn't there. I'm only interested
in XP if it will make the iPod "just work". So, I installed Windows 98
SE and it doesn't even see the iPod. Again, not interested in
troubleshooting Windows. So, I'm downloading Ubuntu Desktop 7.10 as I
write. I'll install that as a dual-boot with the W98SE. I might as well
leave W98SE on there as it's only taking up 3.5 GB - that leaves 8.5 GB
for Ubuntu - I hope it's enough, as I want to install everything if
there is such thing in the debian-based world... that way I won't have
to go endlessly fishing for libraries like I'm doing in fedora 7...
