Hi All,

I've got a hopefully quick (maybe silly) question.

I have emacs21 installed on ubuntu.

emacs itself seems to be working fine, but I can't find
any .emacs file to customize.

I get:

amaynard at local:~$ locate .emacs
/usr/share/doc/dictionaries-common/README.emacs.gz
/usr/share/doc/bicyclerepair/README.emacs
/usr/share/gtkhtml-3.8/keybindingsrc.emacs
/usr/bin/etags.emacs21
/usr/bin/emacsclient.emacs21
/usr/bin/ctags.emacs21
/usr/bin/b2m.emacs21
/usr/bin/grep-changelog.emacs21
/usr/bin/ebrowse.emacs21
/usr/bin/rcs-checkin.emacs21
/home/amaynard/.emacs.d
/home/amaynard/.emacs.d/auto-save-list
/home/amaynard/.emacs.d/auto-save-list/.saves-10049-local~
/home/amaynard/.emacs.d/auto-save-list/.saves-5211-local~
/home/junyi/.emacs.d
/home/junyi/.emacs.d/auto-save-list
/root/.emacs.d
/root/.emacs.d/auto-save-list

Should I be looking elsewhere or do I just need to start
a file called ~/.emacs ?

Thanks very much.

Alex
