There's a problem with this line. 3a^2 - 3ab + ab - b^2 = 12ab - 12b^2
Since ab, a^2 and b^2 were previously shown to be equal, then ab - b^2 =0.
This means they're claiming 3a^2 - 3ab + ab - b^2 = 12ab - 12b^2
actually is 3a2 - 3ab = 12ab - 12b^2 , which contradicts the line
3a^2 - 11ab = 3ab - 11b^2 .
