In a break from our normal meeting format VanLUG will be joining
FreeGeek (http://www.freegeekvancouver.org) to hold a computer hardware
drive on June 18th at 7:30 at their new warehouse at 117 East 2nd
Avenue
(between Main & Quebec).

Clean out the old computer gear in your basement and earn kudos from
your significant other while ensuring it is reused or at least
responsibly recycled. We will have door prizes for the most hardware
donated, the most obscure hardware, and the oldest running system.

IBM will be providing a speaker to talk about the greening of
electronics.

VanLUG will be providing pizza and pop. Please us the RSVP form
http://www.vanlug.bc.ca/members/rsvp.php to ensure that we order the
correct amount of food. If you have any specific food requirements
please be sure to let us know.

Please be aware that FreeGeek charges $10 per CRT (monitor) in order to
offset their costs. For more information about the hardware they
accept
please visit http://freegeekvancouver.org/?q=en/computer_recycling.

Don't worry if it's not dead yet, FreeGeek builds complete Linux
systems
out of the reusable hardware and makes it available either through
their
adoption or hardware grant programs.

As always, VanLUG meetings are free and open to everyone. You are
welcome to come with our without any hardware to donate.
